Overview
UCLH is seeking a full time permanent Reports Technical Lead to join the Business Intelligence Reports team. The post holder is a key technical expert of the reports team responsible for ensuring high standards of BI report development and maintenance. The post holder will lead projects within a team of report developers to support management decision making across the Trust, enabling high quality clinical care, and ensuring that internal and external reporting obligations are met. Main duties
- Provide ongoing, hands-on support to the Reports team in developing and applying advanced technical and visualisation skills in reporting, including script optimisation. Serve as a go-to resource for troubleshooting, tool usage, and system navigation to enhance individual and team technical proficiency. Work alongside team members to reinforce learning through real-time problem solving and practical application.
- Lead on projects to produce new complex and sophisticated BI reports and to work with the divisional information teams and other customers to ensure these reports clearly and accurately communicate relevant information.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Essential: Masters degree level or equivalent professional experience within a healthcare information environment
- Essential: Understanding of activity recording and reporting including waiting lists, A&E, cancelled operations, SUS, workforce
- Essential: Understanding of data retrieval, data processing, information analysis and interpretation within acute hospitals
- Essential: Specialist knowledge of data analysis and visualisation, statistical modelling and quantitative service evaluation techniques
Experience
- Essential: Substantial experience in an information analysis role in an NHS or other healthcare information environment
- Essential: Substantial experience of working with relational databases, including complex SQL
- Essential: Substantial experience of using Power BI or equivalent data visualisation tool
- Essential: Track record of project delivery at a complex level in a large service focused organisation
- Desirable: Experience of using Epic BI stack, including developing Radar, Slicer Diver, Reporting Workbench contents
Skills and Abilities
- Essential: Knowledge of information analysis and the use of information across the NHS acquired through degree or equivalent experience
- Essential: Ability to interrogate databases using Advanced SQL
- Essential: Ability to interpret complex data
- Essential: Ability to convert data to management information
