Repairs Surveyor – Redhill, Surrey

Duties for the role of Repairs Surveyor in Redhill, Surrey include:
  • Identify and deliver effective repair solutions by surveying properties, diagnosing issues accurately, specifying works, and ensuring repairs are planned, ordered, and delivered to time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally by investigating complaints and queries on‑site, identifying solutions, and seeing them through to full resolution—improving satisfaction and reducing repeat contacts.
  • Project‑manage complex works from end to end, including preparing quotes and specifications, procuring materials, coordinating operatives and contractors, supervising delivery on site, and completing post‑inspections.
  • Lead the inspection process for all repairs and minor works, ensuring that all required surveys (e.g. estate inspections, TDI surveys, mutual exchanges) are completed to standard and inform appropriate action.
  • Maintain accurate and accessible records of all inspections, customer interactions, repair decisions, and progress updates in the appropriate IT systems to support team efficiency and compliance.
  • Ensure clear and proactive communication with residents throughout the repairs process, providing regular updates and managing expectations to drive positive outcomes and prevent complaints.
  • Comply with Section 20 consultation requirements for leasehold works, ensuring correct notices, timelines, and engagement steps are followed to protect the organisation and inform service charges.
  • Contribute to service improvement by feeding back lessons learned from inspections, works and customer interactions, incorporating insights into future specifications and working practices.
  • Support financial accountability by checking the accuracy of invoices and accounts, contributing to budget forecasting, and participating in annual budget setting and tender evaluations.
  • Maximise service efficiency through accurate diagnosis, clear job scoping, and a right‑first‑time approach.
Skills and experience required for the Repairs Surveyor in Redhill, Surrey include:
  • Relevant technical qualification in building surveying, construction, or property maintenance (e.g. CIOB or RICS or equivalent demonstrable experience).
  • Strong working knowledge of building maintenance, construction standards, repair diagnostics, and contract administration.
  • Understanding of landlord responsibilities, tenant rights, and leaseholder consultation requirements, including Section 20.
  • Experience surveying residential properties and delivering repairs, maintenance, or small works projects from start to finish.
  • Demonstrable track record of resolving property‑related customer complaints and ensuring satisfactory outcomes.
  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, and operatives to coordinate delivery of repair works and ensure value for money.
