Working Pattern

Full‑time, 40 hrs per week on Monday‑Friday at 8:00‑16:30.

What's involved

The Repair Technician at STERIS IMS plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing surgical instruments, ensuring their functionality and safety. This involves a range of hands‑on tasks, from intricate repairs to equipment maintenance, demanding both technical aptitude and physical capability. This is a hands‑on role that involves a variety of physical activity, including standing, walking, and sitting, as needed to complete tasks. It also requires the ability to lift and manipulate heavier tools and machinery, including presses.

  • Repairing various medical devices to meet quality standards.
  • Participating in training sessions and recording notes to stay updated with techniques and technologies.
  • Caring for and maintaining assigned equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper storage.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
  • Operating specialised equipment like presses, soldering irons, and laser machines with precision.
  • Managing devices throughout the repair process, ensuring proper handling and tracking.
  • Prioritising tasks based on urgency and importance.
  • Communicating professionally with team members and leadership.
  • Liaising with the stockroom for necessary parts.
  • Maintaining punctuality and reporting absences promptly.
  • Handling small objects with precision and dexterity.
  • Demonstrating strength and precision with tools and equipment, including heavier machinery.
