Relief Security Officer

Contract: Professional Services, Production & Technology

Location: Slough, SL3 8XP

Hours of work: 36

Working Pattern: Various (days, nights and weekends)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hourly Rate: £14.00

We are seeking a Relief Officer who is willing and able to travel throughout Slough and, when required, to Reading and Marlow. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively monitoring and managing the security and building systems at assigned premises.

This role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, following instructions and established procedures. The officer will be supported and monitored 24/7 by the national control room. While the role may involve a significant amount of lone working, frequent liaison with the site engineer and technical site inspectors is required to manage all visitors and contractors on-site.

Key responsibilities include monitoring a range of security systems, such as IDS, CCTV, access control, and other security services provided to our clients. Given the sensitive nature of the contract and the importance of the sites, we expect strong security practices in line with ISS codes of conduct.

The Role
  • Responsible for the physical security of client premises
  • Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, taking appropriate action
  • Enforce access control and verify the identity of individuals on-site
  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting and guiding visitors
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of security-related activities
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and emergency services when necessary
  • Ensure high standards at all times, maintaining the professional image of ISS
  • Undertake induction and training as needed
  • Promote a secure and safe working environment at client sites
About You
  • Valid SIA licence
  • Proven experience in security or related field
  • Strong observational and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle emergencies effectively
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of security protocols and procedures
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights and weekends
  • New recruits will be encouraged to enrol onto the relevant apprenticeship as part of their training and development
