Registered Perioperative Care Practitioner (Scrub)

The post holder will be required to ensure the highest standard of patient care, which reflects the quality standards and mission of the University Health Board and contribute to the implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility.

Registered General Nurse with Nursing Midwifery Council part 1, 2 or 12

Will be required to act within NMC code of conduct and professional regulations.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to ensure the highest standard of patient care, which reflects the quality standards and mission of the University Health Board and contribute to the implementation of policies and procedures within their sphere of responsibility. Duties include:

  • Prepare and assist surgical equipment.
  • Physical effort is required to stand for long periods
  • Regular handling of patients and standing for long periods.
  • Regular handling and moving of heavy equipment.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the surgical environment and type of work to be undertaken
  • Student placement in theatre
  • Previous experience in a theatre environment
  • Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above
