Sentara Heart Hospital, located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a Registered Nurse - Unit Coordinator for the Cardiac Procedural and Surgical IMCU.

The Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for the assigned specialty area, providing clinical leadership for nursing care delivery in the department. Under the direction of the department manager, they lead safety and quality initiatives, focus on streamlining workflow, and contribute to staff development. They aim to increase staff satisfaction and promote excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.

Cardiac Surgical IMCU Department Overview:

  • This 24-bed unit provides high-acuity cardiac care for pre- and post-cardiac surgery patients, including bypass surgery, valve repairs/replacements, and other cardiac procedures.
  • Dedicated to high-quality care, patient outcomes, and safety.
  • Nurses handle 3-4 patients based on acuity level.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required, or MSN.

Certification/Licensure:

  • Virginia RN License or Multi-State Compact eligibility.
  • All direct care RNs must have BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire.

Experience:

  • Minimum 18 months of RN experience required.
