Job description
Overview

We are looking to recruit registered nurses to join our subacute medical and rehabilitation ward at YAB. Sirhowy ward is a 32 bedded single room environment. We pride ourselves in providing excellent standards of nursing care to our patients requiring a period of rehabilitation, complex discharge planning and palliative care. We explore innovative ways of working to enhance our patients experience in hospital providing an environment that is patient and staff focused. We are very welcoming, supportive and friendly team of professionals who strive to provide a positive caring environment for both patients and staff.

Responsibilities
  • As a registered nurse you will be expected to have excellent communication skills, the ability to prioritise your own workload and delegate tasks and be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • You will be expected to take on the role as a practice supervisor/assessor, supporting nursing students on placement along with our own junior members of the nursing team.
  • The role will involve flexible working to meet the needs of the service. The ward operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and several working patterns can be considered to support work-life balance.
  • Work closely with our multidisciplinary team and dedicated palliative care team to ensure individualised patient-centred care.
  • Support the Journey of Excellence for newly qualified staff, a bespoke program to assist in acquiring knowledge and skills to facilitate progression. At YAB we have competency framework training and opportunities to develop in leadership and practitioner roles.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Registered nurse with the ability to provide high quality patient care; good communication skills; and motivation, enthusiasm and reliability.
  • An interest in acute medical care and specialist palliative care nursing.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
