Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Nurse who is QIS, or has recent neonatal experience, to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NNUH). We are a regional level 3 intensive care unit with 42 cots, delivering a full range of care from Intensive and high dependency through special and transitional care, supporting families as partners in care. We offer a comprehensive 6‑week induction with access to simulation training and mentorship from experienced neonatal nurses and advanced practitioners, with support to complete the specialist nursing training (QIS).
Responsibilities
- Carry out assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care to a high standard, applying evidence‑based practice.
- Provide daily personal care of patients and maintain accurate records of all care given.
- Manage the ward/department environment and staffing in the absence of a senior member of staff, including bed management and delegation of workload according to staff competencies.
- Lead and monitor the performance and work of the nursing team and support workers; act as a professional role model and provide leadership to junior staff.
- Support and direct the voluntary workforce in the clinical area.
- Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and work within limits of competence.
- Maintain a high standard of nursing care and follow the Trust’s preceptorship programme.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current UK professional registration where required by the role.
- Experience in neonatal care or completion of QIS; willingness to develop skills within a friendly, inclusive team.
- Ability to work within a strong culture of family integrated care and partnership with parents in care.
- Willingness to participate in the Trust’s induction and training programmes, including simulation training and mentorship.
Travel, DBS, NHS Service and Registration
- DBS checks will be required for roles involving work with children or adults as relevant.
- We will verify any previous NHS service via ESR/IAT where applicable.
- You must have current UK professional registration if required for the role.
- For visa sponsorship, eligibility will be assessed against gov.uk criteria for the Skilled Worker visa.
