Part-time (33 hours per week) Post available on our Paediatric ward.

Ward F63 19‑bed Paediatric surgical ward (0‑17 years).

We are seeking a confident and competent Applicant who will provide the highest standard of holistic care to babies, children, young people and their families. You must have excellent communication skills and be innovative in your approach.

Our Paeds wards have well‑developed and organised teams offering a 24‑hour service, 365 days per year. Working on a rota to meet Service needs, ensuring highest standards of care.

Main duties of the job

To assess, plan, implement and evaluate care needs without direct supervision. Required to supervise and demonstrate procedures to qualified and/or unqualified staff.

Act as named nurse for a defined group of patients taking lead responsibility for the co‑ordination and delivery of their care from admission to discharge.

Take charge of Ward for span of duty in absence of person with continuing responsibility.

Nurse‑in‑charge of patient caseload/area, directly responsible for ensuring cleanliness standards maintained in area throughout shift.

Most likely Offered on rotational basis. Ability to work as part of team as well as own initiative without constant supervision. Need excellent interpersonal skills. Computer skills required. Flexibility and reliability required.

  • Knowledge of evidence-based guidelines e.g. NICE guidelines, NPSA alerts, current nursing legislation.
  • Venepuncture and cannulation competency.
Qualifications
  • NMC Registered Childrens Nurse, or evidence of qualification if newly‑qualified.
  • Degree in Nursing studies or healthcare‑related subject (UK equivalent).
  • Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience.
