Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain good communication and relationships with partners, for example Gwent wide schools and primary care.
  • Undertake training programmes for immunisation schedules which include storage and administration of vaccines and gaining consent.
  • Promote the National Immunisation Programme and take all opportunity to increase the uptake and advise parents about the immunisation schedule.
  • Attend relevant immunisation meetings to report on immunisation issues.
  • Perform any other duties which may be requested by the line manager in order to facilitate the smooth running of the school nursing service.
Qualifications
  • First level registered nurse.
  • Desirable experience of working within the community environment, working with children and/or working within the field of immunisations.
  • Motivated, autonomous practitioner, able to integrate and work competently within a skill mix team.
  • Capable of responding to the physical, mental and emotional challenges of working within a developing service.
  • Will be required to contribute to any other duties requested by the senior nurse in order to facilitate the smooth running of the school nursing service.
  • Fully committed to your own professional development and ready to undertake specific development required for the role.
  • Must be able to meet the geographical needs of the role. Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh applicants are equally welcome.
