Job description

Join a new service at Campsfield House focused on providing a high-quality service to the residents.

The duties will vary depending on the needs of the department with the days priorities agreed with the Head of Healthcare and Senior Clinical Lead. You will work with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver an excellent healthcare service which is evidenced based, person-centred, and non-judgement care. You will share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure an open, learning environment and encourage others in the team to continue their professional development.

You will work closely with our partners and stakeholders striving for continuous quality improvement and ensuring healthcare records are maintained in accordance with governance policies.

Responsibilities
  • Complete medication rounds and dispense controlled medication
  • Attend emergency response situations
  • Triage and assess patients
  • Management and care of minor illness and injuries
  • Assessment, evaluation and implementation of care for long term conditions
  • Undertake reception screening
  • Complete health promotion
  • Be the named lead nurse for an area of healthcare
  • Please note the role will include night shifts as part of the rota.

DrPA has been operating in secure environments since 2014 providing General Practitioner services and we are now growing to provide a complete healthcare service at Campsfield IRC by NHS England. This will be delivered directly or through a range of specialist partners who are experts in their field. We deliver our services based on our ethos of CARE:

Campsfield House Immigration Removal Centre (IRC)

Campsfield House IRC is a secure facility currently designed to accommodate up to 160 male residents in both single and dual occupancy rooms. The centre houses a combination of time-served foreign national offenders and immigration offenders while the Home Office arranges their removal from the UK.

Residents are not permitted to leave the centre or access the local area. Consequently, recreational, educational, healthcare, living, and faith-related facilities are provided entirely onsite.

The healthcare department provides a range of services including primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy, dental, optometry, physiotherapy, podiatry, and audiology delivered either by us or our specialist partners.

Qualifications & Knowledge
  • Current professional qualification (NMC) with no restrictions to practice
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Ability to participate in multi professional teamwork
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff
  • Up to date clinical knowledge of wound management, including complex wounds
  • Knowledge in substance misuse
  • Previous experience within a secure setting or primary health care setting
  • Experience of patient assessment and triage
  • Competent in venepuncture
  • Management of long-term conditions
