Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Standards and legislation.
  • Understanding of the needs of children with behavioural and emotional difficulties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop tailored, person-centred care plans for each young person.
  • Lead and support a high-performing staff team.
  • Ensure the home achieves at least a 'Good' Ofsted rating.
  • Manage complaints and safeguarding issues.

Children's Home Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (DOE)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed Children’s Registered Manager to lead and open a new Intake and Assessment residential home. This role is ideal for a passionate leader who is driven to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care and create lasting positive outcomes for young people.

The Role

The successful candidate will ensure the home achieves at least a “Good” Ofsted rating and will be responsible for:

  • Developing tailored, person-centred care plans for each young person
  • Building, leading and supporting a high-performing staff team
  • Creating effective systems to ensure young people are fully consulted about their care
  • Allocating Key Workers and overseeing the delivery of individual care plans
  • Upholding exceptional care standards aligned with regulatory requirements and the Home’s Statement of Purpose
  • Managing complaints, safeguarding issues and child protection concerns
  • Working collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals
  • Attending and contributing to care planning and review meetings
  • Promoting a safe, nurturing and positive culture within the home
  • Managing resources and budgets effectively to ensure the home operates successfully
Essential Requirements
  • A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including 1 year in a supervisory role within the past 5 years
  • Level 3 Children’s Residential Care qualification (essential)
  • Level 5 Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (preferred). Candidates without this must enrol within 6 months
  • Strong understanding of Quality Standards, SCCIF, legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong organisational, planning, budgeting and leadership skillsConfident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
  • Full UK driving licence
