Job description
Overview

As a registered Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will be accountable and autonomous in acting in the best interests of your patients, responsible for patient assessment, planning of care, delivering safe and compassionate care, and evaluating effectiveness of care. You will be a NMC/HCPC‑registered practitioner or nurse assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating high quality, safe, compassionate perioperative care.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan and implement high quality, safe, compassionate and effective perioperative care for patients, in line with scope of practice.
  • Ensure risk management, safety strategies, Trust policies and departmental procedures are adhered to in the delivery of patient care.
  • Demonstrate practical application of evidence-based perioperative care standards in line with national recommendations and clinical guidance.
  • Implement patient safety strategies (e.g., WHO Surgical Safety/5 Steps to Safer Surgery) consistently and, where appropriate, contribute to development of new initiatives supporting the improvement agenda.
  • Promote dignity and respect, ensuring patient care meets expectations and maximises patient experience.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive and comprehensible records of care provision as per legislation, protocols and guidelines.
  • Work with the perioperative multidisciplinary team (Anaesthetists, Surgeons) to provide effective care within Anaesthetics, Scrub and Post‑Anaesthetic disciplines.
  • Support the Theatre Leadership Team to uphold standards of practice and care quality, acting as a role model and supporting learning of others.

  • Qualification meeting sponsorship eligibility criteria (if applicable).
