The role requires qualified employment lawyers with at least two years of experience and strong advocacy skills. We are now seeking to recruit a Regional Solicitorto join our team in the NEU West Midlands region, based in Birmingham. The workof the Regional Solicitor will focus on providing employment law advice to theRegional Office team and advice and representation to members.
We are seeking qualified and experienced employmentlawyers, with a minimum of two years post qualification experience and strongadvocacy skills who will be able to work as part of the professional team ofstaff at our NEU West Midlands office, providing advice and information onlegal issues affecting education professionals.
They will also be asked to contribute to writtenmaterials including Union documents aimed at members and to the training oflocal officers. The posts are ideally suited to motivated candidates who wishesto extend their employment law experience within a trade union environment.
They will demonstrate experience of managing theirown caseload; good all-round communications skills, the ability to relate topeople with different backgrounds and needs both inside and outside the Union,together with an understanding of the needs and characteristics of a democraticmembership organisation.
Prospective applicants are also advised that yournormal place of work will be the NEU office specified in this advert and thatthe NEU operates ‘Blended Working Arrangements’ for office-based staff, whichmeans you will typically need to be based in the designated NEU office for 3days a week (based on a full-time contract), with the remaining days based athome, and subject to business needs. Travel arrangements will be discussed on acase-by-case basis at the interview or offer stage.
In addition to salary, we offer good conditionsincluding a commencing salary of £63,537 per annum; 35 days’ annual leave plusChristmas closure days and a generous pension scheme. Salary and benefits arepro-rata for part-time applicants.
