Job description
Overview

Shift: 9:30 PM-6:00 AM

Hourly Rate: $38.00 an hour + $1.00 shift differential

We are hiring for Refrigeration/Maintenance Tech on our 3rd shift at our Kent, WA food manufacturing plant. You will report to the shift supervisor and join a team of 235+ team members.

Responsibilities
  • Perform PM maintenance and repairs on refrigeration equipment (compressors, condensers, evaporators, pumps, valves) and replace defective mechanical and manual valves; control equipment set points
  • Maintain the water treatment system and associated chemicals
  • Remove and install 3-phase motors, perform motor alignments, and replace compressor and pump shaft seals
  • Remove ice buildup from evaporator drain pans, investigate causes, correct problems, drain oil from ammonia system, inspect ammonia detection system, and ensure safeguards are functioning
  • Work in motor room, freezer, and blast cell areas
  • Complete daily CMMS reports as directed by the supervisor
  • Collaborate with refrigeration contractors, electricians, and pipe fitters to ensure safety policies and work standards are followed
  • Check integrity and tolerances using a micrometer
  • Read and interpret P&ID drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Apply basic electrical troubleshooting with 480V, 277V, and 115V
  • Write SOPs, pump-down procedures, and LOTO procedures
  • Monitor fire safety systems
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, equipment manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance
  • Comply with Process Safety Management (PSM) and OSHA safety rules; maintain clean work areas
  • Possess 3+ years of experience in ammonia (NH3) refrigeration and compressor room operation; certification as a Level II Ammonia preferred
  • Refrigeration RETA or CIRO or higher certifications preferred; other nationally recognized certifications considered
  • Knowledge of industrial electricity, PLCs, microprocessors and related components
  • Knowledge of environmental safety, PSM, and PHA
  • Background in steam and hot water boilers, plumbing, welding, vacuum systems, compressed air, hydraulics and pneumatics is preferred
Qualifications
  • 3+ years in ammonia refrigeration and compressor room operation or equivalent training
  • Proficiency reading P&IDs, blueprints, and schematics
  • Basic electrical experience with 480V, 277V, and 115V
  • Ability to work on third shift in a food manufacturing environment
