Job description

We are seeking someone friendly, conscientious and enthusiastic to join our professional reception team.

Flexibility is required to cover sickness and other absences.

We work from purpose built modern premises adjacent to Hexham General Hospital.

The ideal candidate will have an empathetic manner, excellent communication and IT skills with a preferred working knowledge of EMISweb, particularly regarding medication.

The regular hours (20 hours) and days for this post will be agreed with the successful applicant, but there will be a need for cover Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 6.30pm.

Main duties of the job

The main duties and responsibilities are:

To welcome and direct patients

Deal with patient enquiries face to face and on the telephone, including registrations

Deal with requests for repeat prescriptions and other medication requests under the supervision of a GP

Accept and test patient specimens as appropriate

Sele Medical Practice is an average sized practice of just under 6000 patients with 6 GPs, two practice nurses, a healthcare assistant and a full complement of reception and administrative staff.

Job responsibilities
  • Receive and direct patients

  • Deal with requests for repeat prescriptions and other medication request under the supervision of the general practitioner
  • Accepting and testing patient specimens as appropriate
  • Organising new patient records and adding data from paper records to patients computerised medical record under the strict supervision of the general practitioner
  • Adding new data to patients computerised medical record under the strict supervision of the general practitioner
  • Photocopying, filing and other administrative duties as required
  • Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Partners, Business Manager, or Head Receptionist

Qualifications
  • GCSE English and mathematics or equivalent
