Job summary

A telecommunications company is seeking a BTS/RBS Field Engineer to handle installation, configuration, and maintenance tasks across the UK. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience with 2G to 5G technologies and a background in telecommunications. Responsibilities include fault resolution and teamwork with internal and external personnel. We are looking to hire for BTS/RBS Field Engineer- London.

Job Title: BTS/RBS Field Engineer

Perm/Temp Zero-Hours Contra

Reporting to the Delivery Manager, candidates need to have proven knowledge of proactive and reactive maintenance of field based RAN elements (Active and Passive). Service Impacting faults will include site off air and performance issues. Demonstrable evidence of Fault identification and resolution, configuration, integration, call testing, troubleshooting, and antenna system testing (VSWR/PIM). May be requested to participate in weekend work or extended hours (TBC). The role holder will demonstrate professionalism and flexibility when contacting internal & external personnel.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Responsible for working alone or in a small team
  • Completing all H&S documentation, including CDM
  • Using the correct procedures at all time
  • Being proactive in collecting required data and equipment ahead of schedule
  • Being on site at the right place at the right time with the right equipment
  • Installation/Configuration/Integration/Call testing tasks
  • Raising pre-existing/new incident cases
  • Site surveys & audits
  • Completing Hand Over Packs/Completion Certification
  • Ensure all assigned equipment is maintained in good working order & within calibration date.
Operational Experience
  • Knowledgeable and highly-experienced, proactive maintenance on multi-customer, multi-technology Radio & Transmission networks such as: Nokia, Ericsson Huawei, BT (EE).
  • At least 2 years commissioning & integration, troubleshooting technical / investigations and repair experience within the last 2 years on either Ericsson, Huawei or Nokia, preferably all.
  • Approved & on the Qualified Persons List for either Nokia or Ericsson, preferably both manufacturers.
  • Skilled and proficient with all radio technologies such as 2G, 3G, 4G & 5G.
  • Carrying out transmission trouble shooting and repair.
  • Cooperation with 3rd parties, customers and site providers to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • Carrying out testing & cooperation with transmission network BT, VM etc plus knowledge of self-provide microwave systems.
  • Accurately completing any Hand Over Packs & or site completion certification within agreed SLAs.

Person Specifications
  • Must hold UK driving license, own car/van, own laptop & own test phone (2G, 3G, 4G & 5G)

  • Be willing to work all over the UK
Academic & Technical Background
  • Must have a background within Telecommunications or a related industry.
