A leading conservation organization is seeking a Ranger to manage conservation activities and visitor experiences at Sutton Hoo. The ideal candidate will have practical conservation experience, the ability to engage with visitors, and be physically capable of outdoor tasks. This full-time position involves working weekends and Bank Holidays, contributing to the preservation of the natural environment. Salary is £26,793 per annum.

As a Ranger, you’re a champion of nature conservation and the great outdoors, and you’ll play a crucial role in keeping the nation’s beloved countryside and coast in good shape, for wildlife and for people.
Reporting to the Lead Ranger, you'll deliver practical Conservation work at Sutton Hoo and other sites across the portfolio on the Suffolk & Essex Coast.
You'll work as part of the property Duty Management team, including weekend and Bank Holiday working on a rota basis. You'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.
As a part of the S&E Coast portfolio Ranger team, you'll deliver a program of practical work and visitor management, survey & monitor species, and work alongside our volunteers.
You’ll be responsible for day-to-day practical and technical management of countryside property, including equipment maintenance, habitat management, ecological monitoring, visitor experience and site presentation. As part of a small Ranger team supporting our Strategic “Restoring Nature” focus, you'll be adaptable and willing to step in to help across the property as well as the wider portfolio.
You’ll help communicate our work to a wide range of audiences, through events, guided walks and engagement with local communities.
Due to the location of Orford Ness, you'll also need to be comfortable working on/near water and be happy to train towards RYA Powerboat 2 qualifications.
