Radiographer MRI

The MRI department at Kings College Hospital is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Radiographer to join our team. We undertake a wide array of sub-specialist scanning including Musculoskeletal, Hepatobiliary, Cardiac, Vascular and Paediatric imaging. The department has 6 Siemens scanners. We are a busy unit with a friendly, supportive team. Please note, this advert may close early if a high number of applications are received.

Main duties of the job
  • To perform a wide range of scans, working autonomously to utilise department protocols and undertake MRI procedures of the highest quality.
  • To ensure a high standard of patient care, and participate in the monitoring of standards.
  • To ensure that any person entering the MRI scanner is appropriately safety checked in accordance with departmental policy and act as patient and staff advocate in MR safety issues.
  • The post holder is required to have excellent clinical communication and interpersonal skills and will need to be able to communicate effectively with service stakeholders within the service.
  • Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with kindness and respect.

Job responsibilities
  • Act as patient and staff advocate.
  • Provide timely, efficient and courteous provision of MRI services to the agreed standards of the department, taking account of the patient’s clinical, physical and cultural needs.
  • Monitor and adjust work priorities in conjunction with other professionals to respond to emergencies or increased demand.
  • Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of imaging equipment, reporting faults to senior staff or directly to the manufacturer.
  • Participate in the departmental rota, being flexible in responding to service needs.
  • Be responsive to change management issues and understand the implications for the Radiology service.
  • Ensure all adverse incidents are reported in line with trust policies.
  • Participate in clinical audit to improve quality of service.
  • Deal with routine MRI safety issues as they arise, taking advice when necessary.
  • Take part in the extended MRI service, including evenings and weekends.
  • Undertake MRI department quality assurance tests.
  • Undertake any other duties as required by the Lead Radiographer or Head of Radiography.
  • Undertake imaging required for MRI research projects.
Qualifications
  • Current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • BSc Radiography (or equivalent)
Experience
  • Evidence of recent, relevant CPD
  • MRI experience in MRI including MSK, Gynae and HPB imaging
Skills
  • Able to organise and prioritise workload, manage time effectively and deliver within agreed timescales
  • Understanding of clinical governance and adverse incident reporting
