Job description

Join us as a Band 6 Radiographer and become part of our skilled, supportive, and forward‑thinking team at Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. With opportunities across Broomfield (Chelmsford), Basildon, and Southend, you can choose a location that suits your lifestyle—whether city, central, or coastal.

In this dynamic senior role, you’ll work independently and collaboratively, taking on supervisory responsibilities and guiding small teams during clinical sessions. We’re committed to nurturing your professional growth, offering a structured dual‑banded development pathway to support your progression into a full Band 6 post.

Our department is fully DR‑enabled across all sites and provides a comprehensive suite of imaging services, including CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Cardiac Imaging, a dedicated Interventional Theatre, and a refurbished Fluoroscopy suite. We actively support Advanced and Extended Scope practice, including Image Reporting, Radiographer‑led CT Colonography, and Upper GI Fluoroscopy. With a dedicated Education Committee and focus groups such as ‘KidRad’, we ensure staff development is meaningful, fair, and aligned to improving patient care.

If you’re enthusiastic, motivated, and ready to take the next step in your radiographic career, we’d love to welcome you to our team.

  • Deliver high‑quality imaging across A&E, Theatres, Mobile Radiography, and General X‑ray, rotating between our main hospital sites and community hospitals.
  • Work both independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe and efficient patient pathways.
  • Lead small teams during clinical sessions, providing clear guidance and maintaining high professional standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide supervision and assessment for undergraduate radiography students.
  • Contribute to services across our fully DR‑compliant department and support imaging within specialised areas such as CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Cardiac Imaging, Interventional Radiology and Fluoroscopy.
  • Engage in Advanced and Extended Scope opportunities where service needs align, such as Image Reporting, CT Colonography and upper GI Fluoroscopy.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through our structured training programmes, supported by the Education Committee.
  • Contribute to patient‑focused initiatives, including involvement in specialist groups such as ‘KidRad’, aimed at improving pathways for specific patient groups.

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
