Job description

Job title: R&D Scientist
Location: Slough
Contract Length: 18 months
Working Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Pay Rate: £17.96/hour

About the Role

The role requires familiarity and some experience with basic lab techniques. This is an entry level role and therefore extensive experience is not required. We are happy to consider recent graduates. More important than skill is attitude, an excitement in protein chemistry, a desire to learn new skills and partake in novel research and develop into a research scientist in the protein engineering area.

Key Responsibilities
  • This role is predominantly lab based. Perform experimental work to a high standard, analyse and report data.
  • Collaborate with senior scientists and other team members to deliver in a fast paced and collaborative environment.
  • Liese with other members of the Upstream Process Development team.
  • Engage in routine lab housekeeping such as stock taking, ordering, administrative tasks.
  • Undertake training as required for the role.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/education
  • Any life science/biotechnology/bioprocessing/biochemistry/chemical engineering
  • Media and/or buffer preparation
  • Aseptic technique
  • Experience with High throughput systems (desirable/not essential)
  • SDS PAGE (desirable/not essential)
  • Automated Western Blot (desirable/not essential)
  • Small scale protein purification (desirable/not essential)
