Job Type: Permanent
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist contractor delivering groundworks and reinforced concrete frame projects. The business operates as part of larger project teams on schemes valued up to £60 million, while also independently delivering projects of up to £5 million. This role will involve both supporting major schemes and taking commercial responsibility for smaller projects run directly by the business.
The successful candidate will support the commercial delivery of large-scale groundworks and RC frame packages, working collaboratively within wider project teams. You will also take ownership of projects valued up to £5 million, managing the full commercial lifecycle from procurement through to final account. Responsibilities will include preparation of valuations, cost reporting, CVRs and financial forecasts, along with subcontract procurement, tender analysis and contract administration. You will manage variations, change control and risk, ensuring commercial compliance across all works. The role requires close collaboration with Project Managers, site teams and senior management, providing commercial input throughout the project lifecycle and supporting strategic decision-making.
Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years' experience working within groundworks and reinforced concrete frame environments. You should have strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience managing subcontract packages and controlling project costs. Candidates should be confident working both independently and as part of a wider team, with the ability to manage projects from pre-construction through to completion. Strong communication, reporting and organisational skills are essential.
This role requires a minimum of 2 days per week based from the company's live projects in Somerset, with the remaining time spent on site or working flexibly as required.
