Freelance Quantity Surveyor

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with experience running multiple schemes, tightening up commercial processes, and delivering results where quality really matters?

A well-established civil engineering contractor is now looking to strengthen their team with a capable, detail-driven Freelance Quantity Surveyor based in East London.

Key Details

• Rate: £300 per day (Outside IR35)
• Contract: 6‑month rolling contract
• Location: Tower Hamlets

You’ll be joining a Private Works division that has been operating successfully for over two years and is continuing to grow. With multiple schemes live at any one time, the business now needs a commercially robust QS to take ownership of CVRs, applications, and change control, ensuring projects are run efficiently and professionally.

You’ll be managing 1‑3 schemes at a time, typically valued at £7‑8m, with works largely subcontracted.

This role offers strong autonomy, stability, and the chance to make an immediate impact within a growing team.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation and management of CVRs
• Pricing Bills of Quantities and private works
• Commercial management of subcontracted packages
• Managing labour, plant, and materials
• Producing and managing change control
• Ensuring monthly applications are accurate and submitted on time
• Supporting commercial best practice across multiple live schemes

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on civil engineering or highways‑style projects
• Experience managing schemes in the £7‑8m range
• Strong understanding of commercial reporting and applications
