A leading sustainable packaging manufacturer in Wakefield is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer (Food Safety Manager) to ensure product compliance and safety standards. The role includes managing quality processes, leading audits, and improving product quality through various methodologies. Responsibilities

  • Lead HACCP team, ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Manage auditing, documentation management, and calibration tasks.
  • Support investigation into customer complaints and manage corrective actions.
  • Oversee product release and quarantine processes.
  • Deliver improvement projects using Six-Sigma methodologies.

Job description

As a Senior Quality Engineer (Food Safety Manager) you shall be the site quality specialist in ensuring products are manufactured to the required specifications, and monitoring processes to ensure they are within the required parameters, in order to meet plant quality performance targets and expectations. You'll act as the site-designated food safety manager to coordinate all food safety activities, including management of the site food-safety QMS system, adherence to standards and compliance requirements.

  • Designated plant food safety manager, leading HACCP team, and coordinating all site food safety activities (including GMP) to ensure compliance with required food safety standards, managing the systems and leading external audits to ensure continued certification.
  • Management of certain parts of the quality management system, including auditing, documentation management, change management, calibration, trial management, etc.
  • Leadership role to manage site quality technicians, including their training, development and task coordination.
  • Plant quality operational systems (shopfloor online) supe-user. Ensuring all aspects of quality control are built to ensure compliance of checks and quality monitoring.
  • Reporting and managing critical site quality performance Kpi's, including product and process check completion, Ppk, quality alarms, out-of-specification products and processes. Monitoring the SPC for appropriate decision-making and reaction.
  • Overseeing the site product release and quarantine processes.
  • Be the site lead in product and process quality control matters, supporting correct decision-making, ensuring compliance with the decision, and managing incidents impacting product, process and system quality.
  • Supporting investigation into customer complaints, including product containment, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • Develop site quality process control plans and improve product quality risks (FMEA's).
  • Ensuring compliance with Ball group quality standards and procedures, regarding process checks, product checks, product release and any other quality matter.
  • Participating in regular operational and quality meetings to review and present quality performance and take action to reduce variation, implement improvement, support activities to ensure plant performance targets are met.
  • Deliver success by leading improvement (Six-Sigma/ DMAIC/ Quality Excellence) projects.
