Job summary

A leading FMCG Food Manufacturing business in Harlow is seeking a Quality Manager to ensure all food products meet safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include leading technical assurance programs, managing audits, and improving initiatives across the supply chain. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food manufacturing, HACCP Level 3 certification, and strong leadership abilities.

Quality Manager

Scantec Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading FMCG Food Manufacturing business at their flagship site in Harlow, we're assisting in their search for a Quality Manager.

As Quality manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring that all food products meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. This role will lead technical assurance programs, manage audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain to maintain brand integrity and consumer trust.

Working Hours

40 hours per week
Monday – Friday - 9am – 5:30pm

Quality Manager – Key Role Responsibilities
  • Ensure food safety, legality, quality, and integrity for all customers through the development, implementation, and adherence to technical policies and procedures.
  • Play an active role in achieving site accreditations by ensuring compliance and audit readiness for BRCGS and customer audits.
  • Develop and implement robust traceability systems to ensure transparency, regulatory compliance, and full product traceability.
  • Lead and manage pest control strategies within the food factory, protecting product integrity and maintaining a hygienic production environment in line with food safety standards.
  • Oversee product testing to ensure food safety and environmental monitoring ensure that the production environment does not contribute to contamination.
  • Investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective preventive actions to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver training to site personnel on food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Consistently and proactively monitor and manage site trends and risks.
  • Work closely with internal teams to boost food safety, compliance, provide technical guidance, and ensure cross-functional alignment. Health & Safety Responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with company health & safety, food safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly to the Production Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Participate in health and safety briefings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of food safety, legality, compliance, and quality standards within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proactive mindset with a “can-do” attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on collaborative problem-solving and delivering practical solutions.
  • Previous experience in a technical or quality role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP Level 3 or higher.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certifications level 3 or higher.
  • Strong understanding of food safety systems (e.g., HACCP, VACCP, TACCP).
  • Leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP system is advantageous.
