The Overview

This role involves taking full ownership of the inspection and quality control processes within a precision engineering environment. Working as part of a small, highly skilled team, you'll inspect complex components to tight tolerances using a range of manual and automated metrology equipment. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect precision components and tooling to tight tolerances.
  • Operate and maintain inspection and metrology equipment, including CMMs, optical scanners, and microscopes.
  • Verify components against engineering drawings, CAD data, and specifications.
  • Record, report, and communicate inspection results accurately.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure equipment is operating correctly.
  • Support production and engineering teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all quality assurance processes meet company and customer standards.
  • Contribute to process development to improve right-first-time manufacturing.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well‑organised inspection area.
The Candidate
  • Proven experience in precision component inspection within a manufacturing or toolmaking environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles.
  • Confident using both manual and automated inspection tools.
  • CMM programming or operation experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of ISO quality standards and inspection documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Strong communicator, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Enthusiastic about precision engineering and continuous improvement.
Salary

£35,000- £50,000, dependent on experience.
