Quality Engineer

Summary

The purpose of this role is to assist in driving the Quality agenda and to improve the company's performance in all areas related to the quality of our products, surpassing ISO 9001 standards. This will be achieved by collaboratively embedding a quality compliance culture within the organization, from shop floor operators to senior management, and by taking a holistic approach to raising standards above and beyond ISO 9001. The role also involves implementing initiatives that continually improve all quality-related activities in a timely manner.

The job holder will ensure site compliance with ISO 45001 Health & Safety standards and ISO 14001 Environmental directives, with support and guidance from the SHEQ Officer.

Primary Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities

  1. Handling customer, internal, and third-party NCRs, working with managers and team leaders to decide corrective actions, verifying, validating, and ensuring robust root cause analysis.
  2. Maintaining and accurately updating the controlled document register, numbering documents, and storing documents properly.
  3. Organising and delivering SOP training to employees.
  4. Reviewing SOPs in accordance with standards and current practices, and communicating updates or changes.
  5. Gathering KPI data, creating and communicating presentations.
  6. Keeping the audit schedule up to date, coordinating with the ISO 9001 consultant, conducting audits, documenting findings, following up on actions, and closing out.
  7. Assisting with customer audits.
  8. Maintaining calibration schedules, communicating, and planning calibration requirements.
  9. Communicating the status of ISO 9001 and other standards to relevant parties.
  10. Producing newsletters and bulletins for staff.
  11. Supporting the department by providing cover for ISO 45001 activities during absences.
  12. Maintaining a central register of quality improvement activities and reports.
  13. Overseeing KPI data gathering, creating, and communicating presentations.
  14. Encouraging continuous review of work practices and acting as a resource for staff implementing QHSE improvements.
  15. Undertaking continuous professional development, attending seminars, and reading relevant journals.
  16. Maintaining knowledge of legislation and developments affecting the business, upon receipt of new qualified information.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Quality Auditor Certificate
  • SME manufacturing background
  • Experience with ISO 45001
  • Awareness of ISO 14001/ISO 9001
  • Six Sigma
  • IOSH and/or NEBOSH
