Qualifications

Quality Control Engineer
Location: Lewes, East Sussex
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Our client is a global leader in manufacturing, with design, development, and production based at their East Sussex site. Due to significant growth and ongoing investment in new technologies, they are seeking a skilled Quality Control Engineer to join their team at an exciting time of expansion and change.

The Role
As a Quality Control Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring product reliability and compliance with customer and regulatory standards. Working closely with colleagues across production, suppliers, and customers, you ll support inspections, audits, and problem-solving activities, driving continuous improvement in quality systems and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and respond to internal and customer non-conformances
  • Perform inspections and electronic testing of assemblies, components, and parts
  • Apply structured problem-solving methods (8D, root cause analysis, corrective actions)
  • Support and conduct internal and supplier audits in line with ISO standards
  • Maintain and analyse non-conformance databases, producing KPI reports
  • Liaise with vendors and represent the Quality function in meetings
  • Support vendor approval and quality planning tasks as required

About You

  • You are proactive, organised, and confident in managing multiple tasks. You can interpret technical data and collaborate effectively with colleagues, suppliers, and customers. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail will be key to your success in this role.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualification in Electronics (HNC, BTEC Level 3, or equivalent; Level 2 considered for strong candidates)
  • At least 3 years experience in a Quality role
  • Solid knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Experience inspecting electronic and mechanical parts, PCBs, wiring, and final assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings, BOMs, and work instructions
  • Familiarity with 8D and continuous improvement processes
  • Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to IATF16949 and the automotive sector
  • Knowledge of DMAIC, FMEA, REACH legislation, or IMDS
  • Internal auditing experience
  • HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline
