About the role

Due to growth within our business, we are seeking to appoint a QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment) Engineer to bolster our current resources in these areas. Working closely with our production, technical, engineering and management teams the role will provide support to meet the evolving demands placed on our business.

The QHSE Engineer will ensure company compliance with standards (ISO 9001), develop/implement policies (alongside senior management), champion quality throughout our operation, conduct risk assessments/audits, investigate incidents, manage documentation, provide training, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and environmental performance across operations. Key duties involve audits, training, policy writing, risk analysis, incident investigation, and reporting KPIs to management, focusing on preventing accidents and enhancing efficiency.

Key responsibilities
  • Policy & Systems: Develop, implement, and maintain QHSE management systems and procedures
  • Quality: Monitor and report in process and final product quality, assessing trends and liaising with stakeholders to drive better outcomes
  • Auditing: Conduct internal & supplier audits (ISO 9001) GAP assessments, and inspections
  • Risk Management: Perform risk assessments, Job Hazard Analyses, and manage Management of Change
  • Incident Management: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses (Root Cause Analysis) and implement corrective actions
  • Training: Develop and deliver effective health & safety training, toolbox talks, and induction programs
  • Compliance: Monitor adherence to health, safety and environmental legislation and company standards, liaising with regulatory bodies
  • Documentation: Maintain up-to-date records, policies, and generate performance reports/KPIs
  • Emergency Response: Participate in and organise emergency planning and drills
About you
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge and experience of ISO standards (9001)
  • Knowledge of Health & safety legislation, environmental monitoring and waste management
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Attention to detail and leadership abilities
  • Training can be provided to fill any gaps
  • Experience in high hazard or chemical manufacturing environment preferred
Additional Information
  • The position is full-time working 39 hours per week across Monday to Friday (half day) and is based on site with 45 minutes for lunch.
  • £30,000-£35,000 per annum based on experience
  • 24 days holiday per year plus bank holidays
  • Sick pay and profit share after qualifying period
