Job description
The Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a highly respected, London-based Housing Association with a portfolio of properties in Leeds.

Because the landlord is not local, you will be the face of the organisation in Leeds. We are looking for more than just a tradesman; we need a professional, compassionate individual who takes pride in their appearance and their work to act as the sole representative on the ground.

This role requires a high level of emotional intelligence. You will be working in the homes of tenants who may be vulnerable, elderly, or in need of support. A friendly face, a patient attitude, and a smart appearance are just as important as your ability to fix a leak.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tenant Support: You will often be the first person a tenant sees when they have a problem. You must be able to listen with empathy, explain repairs clearly (without jargon), and reassure them that the issue is being sorted.
  • Hands‑on Maintenance: Diagnosing and fixing plumbing leaks, joinery repairs, locks, and general building fabric issues.
  • Sourcing Materials: You will be self‑sufficient, managing your own stock and visiting local merchants to buy parts professionally and efficiently.
  • Presentation: You are representing a charitable organization. We expect a tidy van, a professional appearance, and polite conduct at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Compassionate: You must be patient and kind. If a tenant is stressed about a repair, you are the person who calms them down.
  • Presentable: You take pride in how you look. You are punctual, polite, and respectful of people's homes.
  • Multi‑Skilled: Experienced in general plumbing, joinery, and patch repairs.
  • Proactive: As the landlord is in London, you must be able to solve problems yourself (e.g., going to Screwfix to get a part rather than waiting for an order).
  • DBS Check: A clean Enhanced DBS is essential.
Why Apply?
  • £18.00 per hour (CIS) – Top rate for the sector.
  • Company Van Provided.
  • Meaningful Work: You aren't just building walls; you are ensuring vulnerable people have a safe, warm, and comfortable place to live.
To Apply

To apply please submit your CV. Note: We are looking for candidates with previous experience in Social Housing, Care Homes, Schools, or customer‑facing maintenance roles. If you are interested in this role, please respond to this advert or contact the office during working hours.
