Salary : £27,600 - £32,301 per annum (Salary on appointment will be dependent on your qualifications, experience and skills)

Hours : 37 hours per week

The Role :

Rushcliffe Borough Council is a modern, ambitious and high‑performing local authority and is seeking to recruit an experienced, capable and enthusiastic Property Inspector to complement its Property Services team, which manages the authority's extensive land and property assets in an efficient manner, always seeking to achieve the best outcomes and provide great customer service.

The role will involve extensive travel around the borough visiting various sites and properties to undertake surveys and inspect works which will occasionally involve climbing ladders and scaffolding.

Key Responsibilities :
  • To undertake planned / scheduled and ad hoc site inspections / visits to land and building assets
  • Obtain and record detailed information on asset condition to inform reactive or planned maintenance activity
  • Carry out site measurement or other survey work to obtain clear and accurate information
  • Investigate or identify defects, obtaining relevant site information to enable diagnosis by colleagues remotely
  • Determine whether assets are compliant in respect of Health and Safety legislation including fire safety, electrical and mechanical safety, asbestos and legionella control, and record findings
  • Meet with residents, tenants, contractors, colleagues etc as required to discuss property related matters or conduct joint inspections
You :
  • ONC in Building Studies / Construction / Surveying / FM or similar qualification at NVQ Level 3
  • Knowledge and understanding of modern and traditional building construction techniques and the various trade disciplines
  • Knowledge of common mechanical and electrical building services systems and equipment and ability to identify features, controls and diagnose common issues
  • Knowledge and awareness of general Health & Safety related to buildings in use and construction sites including HASAW Act and key regulations including CDM, control of asbestos at work, LOLER, electrical and fire safety, legionella etc
  • They should be competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and able to interpret plans and other building related documentation and also have a good knowledge of building construction, possibly obtained via a trade background
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal colleagues and external organisations and suppliers in a timely manner and using appropriate written, verbal and face‑to‑face means
