A well-established children's charity is seeking a part-time Social Worker in Newry. This role focuses on supporting families through assessments and providing therapeutic support. Qualifications

If that sounds like you keep reading.We are looking for a Social Worker to join our team at Newry Family Resource Centre, part of Barnardos. We are a trusted, long-standing service that supports families through tough times, helping them find strength and stability.This role is all about working directly with children and families, listening, understanding, and helping them move forward. You will carry out assessments and offer therapeutic support that can make a lasting impact.

Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive assessments of parenting capacity in families where Children are subject to LAC procedures or Child Protection registration.
  • Protective parenting assessments.
  • Therapeutic, educational, preventative and support services to families where children are deemed to be at risk or in need.
  • Individual work with parents and other care givers.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Hold a professional qualification in Social Work recognised by NISCC & Registered with the NI Social Care Council on appointment.
  • Have post-AYE and recent experience in a family and childcare setting across Hardiker levels 3 & 4.
  • Experience of undertaking complex childcare assessments and/or court directed work and contributing to statutory decision making forums including the provision of written reports.
  • Experience of working therapeutically with children/families effected by adverse experiences e.g. trauma, social disadvantage, family breakdown, parenting difficulties, mental health, domestic violence and substance misuse.
  • Experience of applying child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence, business insurance and access to a car for work purposes (this criteria will be waived for candidates with a disability who can demonstrate alternative means of meeting the mobility requirements of the post.
