Overview
Central Recruitment is hiring two Project Workers to deliver intensive, short‑term 28‑day resettlement support for clients moving into private rented accommodation. The role aims to reduce repeat homelessness and prevent tenancy breakdown.
Responsibilities
- Hold a caseload of key clients and conduct regular key working sessions to create outcome‑focused, SMART Support Plans within a Harm Minimisation and strengths‑based framework.
- Initial referral assessment and comprehensive needs and risk assessment at interview to ensure suitable clients are accepted.
- Maximise key clients' income through appropriate benefits and rent account management.
- Provide thorough sign‑ups and support clients through all move‑in stages, making residents feel comfortable and informed.
- Develop and facilitate activities for clients, assisting them to access internal/external opportunities.
- Support clients ready for work, education or training by helping access suitable courses or placements.
- Prepare, re‑let and manage void rooms to minimise void loss and arrears.
- Monitor occupation charge accounts, address arrears proactively and report maintenance issues promptly.
- Monitor and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring client and staff safety.
- Meet day‑to‑day health and safety requirements, including duty system, lone working and maintenance checks.
Qualifications
- Experience working with rough sleepers experiencing mental health problems, alcohol and/or substance misuse in a residential setting.
- Experience with rough sleepers who have low engagement with services.
- Ability to deliver a client‑centred support service to people presenting significant need and risk, implementing action plans through high‑quality risk and need assessment.
- Understanding of current Welfare Benefits and numeracy sufficient for budgeting and rent account support.
- Working knowledge of Housing Management in supported housing and understanding of tenancy rights and responsibilities, including excluded licenses.
- Ability to partner with external stakeholders, especially community mental health services and substance use services.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles.
- Good verbal and written communication skills for case notes, handover and multi‑agency collaboration.
Additional Requirements
- Current valid right to work in the UK.
- Minimum 12 months’ paid experience in a frontline social care role within the last 3 years.
- Fully enhanced DBS, registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months (or willingness to apply at a cost of £60).
- Employment or education history covering the last 5 years, verifiable through the referencing process.
