A community health organization is seeking a part-time leader for its Tobacco Dependency Outreach Service in Gloucester. ABL Health has expanded the Gloucestershire integrated healthy lifestyle service with a new Tobacco Dependency Outreach Service, commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council. This transformative service collaborates with communities to transform the lives of the local population by helping residents stop smoking and improve their wellbeing, embedding sustainable behaviour change.
Leadership & Quality Improvement: Lead a team of stop‑smoking specialists and an administrator to deliver evidence‑based support to priority communities across Gloucestershire. Provide day‑to‑day supervision, performance management and professional development, ensuring high standards through audits, observations and reflective practice. Drive quality improvement, support governance processes and produce reports highlighting effectiveness.
Service Development & Operational Management: Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Tobacco Dependency Outreach Service, ensuring KPIs are met and workloads planned efficiently. Collaborate with the professional stop‑smoking lead to embed best practice, maintain accurate client records, monitor outcomes and refine service delivery.
Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership Working: Work with community, primary and secondary care to maintain seamless referral pathways. Deliver brief stop‑smoking advice training, contribute to integrated care campaigns and represent the service professionally at meetings, events and partnership activities.
Lead a team of stop‑smoking specialist practitioners to provide tailored, flexible support to priority cohorts with high smoking prevalence yet low engagement. Priority groups include LGBTQIA+, social housing and Polish communities, substance misuse, homelessness and temporary accommodation. Create strong partnerships, deliver bespoke services and support practitioners in achieving positive outcomes for referred clients.
Primary duties:
An experienced leader with background in community health and priority groups, skilled in project management, strategic thinking, communication and quality driven. Strong ability to build relationships, motivate teams, use data for improvement and adapt messages for varied audiences.
Part‑time (pro‑rata) permanent position, £32,000‑£36,000 per year.
