Job Title: Project Manager with NEC experience

Location: London (Office with some remote working available)

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 DOE

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Role Overview

We’re looking for an ambitious Project Manager with 5-8 years experience and a keen interest in the delivery of innovative advisory/consultancy projects. You will be responsible for administering and managing projects for our Infrastructure Performance Consultancy (IPC) team – who provide engineering‑led strategic advice to many leading infrastructure clients; improving capital programmes, saving cost and carbon. You will manage consultancy commissions in line with NEC3/4 PSC contract terms and achieve the aims set by the Project Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising the Project Director and GCM at the project conception stage on contract strategy and approaches that can be adopted to successfully achieve the project goals.
  • Lead on developing the overall success criteria of the project.
  • Project planning: ensuring a detailed project plan is produced with the support of the Project Director.
  • Advising on the procurement and management of sub‑consultants. Drafting agreements in accordance with services and contractual obligations.
  • Establishing effective project governance, processes and systems to manage the internal team and sub‑consultant resource in line with forecasts and Project programme.
  • Manage the change control process.
  • Monitor and advise on project finances including managing invoicing.
  • Produce weekly/monthly reports including project programmes and risk registers in line with contractual requirements, and then support the Project Director/Manager with internal financial/commercial reporting.
  • Manage the transfer of project information between the team and the client.
  • Challenge the status quo and work efficiently and effectively in a fast paced agile environment.
  • Participation in cross‑trust activities, including B Corp™ initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Expertise

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience of NEC suite of contracts, particularly NEC3/4 PSC.
  • Experience in managing NEC4 for small/medium consultancy/advisory commissions.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Contractual experience in the infrastructure sector and/or fundamental knowledge of construction industries and understanding of commercial considerations.
  • Experience in managing contractual and commercial risk, ideally for consultancy/advisory commissions.
  • A passion for improving infrastructure in the UK and beyond.

Desirable (one or more):

  • Professionally qualified with at least one of the following: Chartered Civil Engineer, Accredited NEC Project Manager, PRINCE2, APM.
  • Experience of working in the infrastructure sector with demonstrated experience of Project Management for consultancy commissions focussed on client advisory innovation and/or continuous improvement work.
  • Digitally adept with a knowledge of technological tools to improve workflow, AI, PowerBI etc.
  • Wider knowledge of contract law.
  • Greater depth of technical knowledge in one or more areas of civil engineering asset management, design and/or construction.
