Overview

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for a Project Manager, ideally with strong mechanical process knowledge, to oversee a major heat off-take project at their Energy from Waste Power Station in Croydon, South London. This role is a Contract position for 18 months, outside of IR35. The Project Manager (Mechanical Bias) offers a day rate of £550.00 to £600.00.

Role responsibilities and key skills
  • Contribute towards the selection of contract execution strategy and make recommendations for the most effective delivery strategy.
  • Coordinate production of basis of design and optioneering exercises to ensure clear definition of project scope and objectives.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of all aspects of the design, procurement and execution of the project.
  • Ensure the project is delivered in accordance with all technical, HSE, legislative and budget requirements.
  • Coordinate interfaces with operations and the Energy Services Company (ESCo) to ensure smooth integration of the ERF's heat recovery equipment and the ERF's heat pipe, to ensure heat off-take and supply are provided in accordance with the agreement.
  • Develop, maintain and coordinate the project execution programmes.
  • Generate and secure CAPEX cost application requests and maintain approved budgets, undertaking regular variance analyses and forecasting.
  • Coordinate with all project stakeholders and lead regular meetings with effective agendas.
  • Manage the contractual relationship with client's consultants and ensure the consultant is performing in accordance with the agreement.
  • Ideally degree educated in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSH will be advantageous.
  • Prior full project lifecycle experience on similar projects (CHP, Energy from Waste, Biomass, District Heating, etc) from design phase through to execution.
  • Excellent contract management experience.
  • Ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Possessing a good mechanical process engineering background (understanding steam turbines, heat off-take pipes, etc).
