Job Description
The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.
The role of the PM (Project Manager) is a true Alliance role - with a sole focus on delivery of projects and programmes. The PM will manage a team whose responsibility will be to lead a team for the delivery of project, while the PM retains overall responsibility for project delivery. Projects are to be delivered safely, on time, to budget and in-line with quality, environmental, customer requirements and comply with Governance and processes, specifically, Project Management, Health and Safety, Commercial, Risk Value and Opportunity.
The PM will oversee infra element of the multimillion project and will be responsible for the project throughout its full life cycle - utilising their team to manage conflicting needs and demands, and ensure they are deployed and fully utilised making the most of their strengths and skills, whilst building and maintaining good relationships with our client in a bid to arrive at 'win-win' outcomes.
The role is hybrid, with a requirement for 3 days per week in the Peterborough office, with site visits across Grafham to Rede section
Responsibilities
- Creates a high performing team environment - a team of Construction Manager, Site Manager, Site Engineers, Design Leads, Construction planners, Quantity Surveyors, Enabling coordinators and the wider project team (who may be co-located or remote) and are on message and empowered to go about their work in a productive and succinct fashion.
- Responsible for translating Programme level strategy into actual outcomes and that Team members are informed of requirements for project.
- Ensures project team resources are fully utilised, and their performance and output is in line with company performance metrics, dealing with performance issues where they may arise.
- Responsible for developing collaborative working relationships of own team with AW stakeholders and supply chain partners. Responsible for the delivery of Enabling phase of the project and Infra elements in delivery phase of project ensuring that these projects are kept 'on track' by own team to agreed cost, time and quality parameters and any arising issues mitigated appropriately.
- Responsible for full project lifecycle from Enabling, construction, project handover, formal sign off and managing any warranty issue that arise post-handover.
- Responsible for complying with Governance at all level, supporting SPM at governance boards as necessary to obtain approvals. It may be necessary to deputise for SPMs on occasions.
- Works closely with the Commercial team to ensure cost forecasts for all projects are maintained to required accuracy and any cost variance mitigated and/or reported as appropriate.
- Maintain knowledge in the industry and discuss latest applicable innovations and ideas with relevant peers within the Business.
- Work with people from different partner company backgrounds and discipline's. Utilise their knowledge and experience - implement tried and tested ways of working. Add to this own experience and know how.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement in Health & Safety (H&S), ensuring consistent H&S standards are maintained.
- Ensure completion of a full Induction to H&S in accordance with Company policies, procedures, standards &/or guidance.

- A collaborative leader with proven ability to deliver multi-disciplined work, aligned with SPA strategies in logistics, production, design, assembly, SHEQ, reporting and digital creation.
- Can deliver design and build construction products to time, cost, quality, carbon, HSE targets in line with customer and owner outcomes.
- Experienced in leading and delivering large scale projects of work including water infrastructure, or large-scale linear projects, and in leading multi contractor, multi-disciplined teams, unifying them into an industry leading delivery team.
- Can demonstrate the ability to outperform against a tight budget through effective programme development, risk and opportunity management and use of production and innovation.
- Experience in stakeholder management; including customers, client, site operators, landowners, utility companies and statutory authorities.
- Ability to review information, consult with relevant persons and organisations to make agile decisions.
Qualifications
- Degree Qualified in Civil / MEICA / Construction Management
- Full UK Driving Licence
