Job description

By joining the Climate Change team and the City Development Directorate, you will be making a tangible difference to the lives of people in this area and work with a team who are as passionate about our place and public services as you are.

As part of our team, you will be working with other Project Managers who will support each other; working so that skills and abilities are interchangeable, who support, mentor and challenge in order to grow, share knowledge and best practise and strive for success in this challenging area.

Project Managers will oversee the delivery of our pipeline of climate change related projects, which includes new renewable energy generation, heat networks, building retrofit, nature-based solutions and smart energy systems. These projects will directly contribute to the success of the council in achieving our climate change ambitions for a net zero and climate ready York.

We are seeking candidates with robust project management expertise, knowledge and understanding of low carbon technologies, experience of business case development and contract management.

You will be managing projects through their various stages from inception into delivery and post completion. This will be achieved through the development of sound business cases and the procurement and effective management of suitable technical professionals and contractors to translate the Council's ambitious vision into an exciting reality.

Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role. Each role at CYC is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you and your needs as part of the recruitment process. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team.
