Job description

We're looking for a talented and experienced Project Managerto join our Strategic Projects team and make a key contribution to driving forward the strategic agenda of one of the UK's largest and most ambitious universities. Youwill work under the direction of a Senior Project Manager to manage one or more strategic projects within the University's change portfolio.Our ideal candidate will have significant experience in delivering complex projects and be confident in working with senior stakeholders and building trusted and productive working relationships. We have multiple positions available for this role.

Key to delivering this agenda is our portfolio of strategic projects which will help transform the organisation and enhance our offer to students, staff and the wider community. These represent major strategic investments by the University aimed at generating a step-change; therefore, they are typically large scale and highly complex, involving multiple stakeholders and interdependencies across the institution.

This is 2 year fixed term position.

What you will bring to the role

  • You will be responsible for ensuring both smaller standalone projects and those which are part of a wider programme of change are well managed throughout the lifecycle from inception to closure.
  • You will have exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively with all levels of seniority.
  • You will implement project structures and coordinate project workstream meetings, workshops, and boards to ensure that projects progress at pace in an environment of robust governance.
  • You will coordinate project activity and actions through collation of work packages and help ensure deliverables, outcomes and benefits are realised.
  • You will be proactive, enjoy working flexibly and appreciate variety in your work.
  • Experience of working in the Higher Education sector is desirable but not essential.
  • You will have formal training in project management techniques and methodology (e.g., Prince2, Agile, PMI, MSP or APM)
