Role Overview

Seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Project Manager to lead innovative software and technology projects at the intersection of space systems, network orchestration, and digital ground segment technologies.

You will manage the full project lifecycle—from planning and technical coordination through to delivery and stakeholder engagement—working within a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, system architects, and research collaborators. This role is well-suited to someone who thrives in complex, cutting‑edge programmes involving satellite communications, autonomous network management, and European R&D initiatives (ESA, Horizon Europe, etc.).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee complex technical projects, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy and long‑term objectives.
  • Define and manage project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in accordance with business and contractual requirements.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to deliver projects on time, on quality, and within budget.
  • Establish and maintain project governance structures, including risk registers, progress reviews, and change‑control processes.
  • Monitor and control project budgets, forecasts, expenditure, and resource utilisation to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate programmatic and technical risks; proactively resolve issues to safeguard project outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary interface with customers, partners, subcontractors, and funding bodies (e.g., ESA, European Commission), ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Manage subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of work packages and adherence to technical and quality standards.
  • Prepare and support project documentation, technical deliverables, progress reports, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Contribute to proposal development and bid activities, offering project management expertise for public and commercial tenders.
  • Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of programme or project management experience delivering technical and / or software projects, ideally within the space or network communications product sectors.
  • Certification in PMP, PRINCE2, or IPMA (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project or comparable platforms).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment; adaptable, proactive, and resilient.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for project execution and stakeholder engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering ESA, Horizon Europe, or defence‑related programmes.
  • Strong understanding of network orchestration, satellite communications, or ground systems.
  • Experience with Agile, hybrid, or modern project delivery methodologies.
  • Additional project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, IPMA).
What’s offered
  • Opportunity to lead high‑impact, innovative projects across the space technology and digital infrastructure domains.
  • A dynamic, international working environment with collaboration across leading research centres and industrial partners.
  • Competitive compensation package commensurate with experience.
  • Hybrid working model with flexible arrangements.
  • Exposure to cutting‑edge technologies across space–ground integration, AI‑driven networking, and cloud mission operations.
