Job description
Overview

BJF Group is a leading multi-discipline Main Contractor based across the UK, specialising in delivering high-quality construction projects across various sectors. We pride ourselves on our reputation for excellence and attention to detail. We are seeking a proactive and driven Mechanical Project Manager with a background in facilities management to join our South East projects team, covering the full lifecycle of works from pricing and scoping through delivery to invoicing the end client. This role will require travel to estates across the South East; based predominantly in Surrey with some travel to London as required (approx. 85%/15%).

Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for the profitable planning, scheduling and delivery of all extra works and projects across 450 buildings within military estates across the South East, submitting prices and timeframes for delivery to build a small works pipeline, as well as generating new works through ongoing condition reports and asset lifecycle failures. Working closely with the Head of FM Projects, the Project Manager will ensure BJF Group site procedures and processes are in place and operating effectively, with works delivered to a high level of safety and to the required quality standards and specification. Experience of planning and coordinating the delivery of assigned extra works through the relevant engineering team and supply chain will be key, with project timelines submitted as part of the bid process to be satisfied on time and within budget, while maintaining a focus on organically growing revenue. This role suits someone with a mechanical background, ideally with a relevant engineering discipline, who can price minor works through their industry knowledge, and who is a self-starter driven to maximise opportunities for favourable business outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Ensure BJF Group and the client’s SSOW, H&S policy and procedures are in place and followed, with accidents and near misses recorded and reported in accordance with BJF Group and client reporting systems.
  • Provide support to Head of Projects for incidental works and other new works streams.
  • Work with the Head of Projects and Commercial Manager to ensure the customer programme is achieved when required.
  • Collaborate with other members of the contract/Division/Business to enable the development of the business and effective team working.
  • Ensure all projects meet the pricing KPIs issued by the client.
  • Liaise with client representatives to ensure works specification is correct and that the client user is updated throughout works.
  • Maximise opportunities to use internal supply chain for delivering injected works.
Requirements
  • Hold an industry-recognised qualification (NVQ or similar) in Mechanical trade.
  • Demonstrable experience of CDM2015 regulations.
  • Hold an industry-recognised H&S management qualification (IOSH or SMSTS).
  • Experience in high-volume, low-value project turnaround.
  • Managerial experience at supervisor level within technical and/or hard services is essential.
What We Offer
  • A supportive and collaborative work environment.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • The chance to be part of an award-winning organisation that values innovation and excellence.
