Job description

Mech Tech Professionals currently have a full-time opportunity available for a Project Engineer to work at an Energy from Waste Facility based in Kent.

Our client, one of the UK's most prestigious Waste and resource management companies, requires an experienced professional to start with them immediately or upon availability.

This is a permanent position, working 5 days per week (Monday to Friday).

Position Overview:

Whilst holding a vital role, as a Project Engineer you will be responsible for the project management of equipment & process upgrades, the support of plant maintenance strategies and the drive of operation excellence at an Energy from Waste (EfW) facility.

The role will factor in the development, planning, commissioning and installation of projects that increase the performance and reliability of the plant. Moreover, the position will include striving for continuous improvement to minimise Health & Safety risks on site.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing contractors on site and overseeing project safety & performance
  • Supporting plant outages which includes planning and execution strategies - This may involve direct supervision/liaison with the maintenance team and contractors
  • Carrying out assigned tasks and duties in a safe manner, in accordance with instructions, and to comply with safety rules & procedures
  • Deputise for the Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Team Leaders when required
  • Delivering capital projects from the conceptual stages right through to commissioning
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety & environmental procedures
  • Developing the site's Maintenance Management System(s)
  • Excelling improvements through root cause analysis
  • Provide organisational strategies and implement communicative support when necessary

Candidate requirements:

  • NEBOSH or IOSH Safety accreditation
  • Qualified to degree level (or extensive equivalent experience)
  • Experience within the Energy from Waste, Power or similar heavy industry field(s) (Ideally a minimum of 5 years' experience)
  • Great knowledge of steam turbines, pressure systems, generators and NDT
  • Experience with Maintenance Management Systems and statutory inspections
  • Experience with MicroSoft Project (preferred)
