Job description

Job Description

London Gatwick offers an exciting opportunity for a Programme Planning Manager (Operations) to join our dynamic team at the world's most efficient single runway airport. Be a part of shaping our future, supporting the delivery of a substantial investment plan to develop and enhance our airport infrastructure and facilities.

You'll be instrumental to our airport's future success, working closely with our Programme Manager to achieve the strategic aims and objectives of the business. Your primary focus will be on developing, implementing, and delivering effective planning and assurance processes across a programme of projects typically valued at up to £50m.

What is the role?

Reporting to the Lead Planning Manager, you'll take a key role in leading the planning of projects across all stages of their lifecycle, from concept approval to delivery and closeout. Your mission is to ensure performance targets are not just met but exceeded consistently and on time.

Other duties include:

  • Creating and maintaining schedules for the entire project journey, including managing control programmes from project concept to closeout, evaluating contract programmes, assessing compensation events, conducting delay analysis, and driving schedule improvements through our supply chain.
  • Leading and managing planning teams for the programme, applying your knowledge across multiple projects to help achieve strategic goals.
  • Contributing to the development of standards, managing, motivating, coaching, and mentoring team members to foster growth and talent development.
  • Reviewing the programme, assisting in trend and change management, reporting, risk management, and identifying efficiencies to improve programme outcomes and team performance.
  • Upholding high standards of health, safety, and environmental management across the programme and its contractors, aiming for excellence in these areas.

What are we looking for?

The Gatwick environment requires a flexible, adaptable approach, problem-solving skills, and an innovative outlook. The role involves delivering strategic project objectives and leading projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience planning infrastructure projects as a Senior Planner on multi-year programmes within the construction or infrastructure sectors, typically worth more than £50 million.
  • Experience leading small teams.
  • Extensive proficiency with Primavera P6 and related commercial acumen.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership, influencing skills, and the ability to motivate, coach, and facilitate learning opportunities for others.

What do I get?

Our employees find working here rewarding, with no two days alike. Alongside a competitive salary, benefits include:

  • 5% Welcome Bonus
  • Pension Scheme
  • Performance-based bonus scheme
  • Discounts at high street shops and restaurants
  • Healthcare scheme
  • Life insurance
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Discounted travel
  • Volunteer days
