Job description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate, dedicated and skilled Professional Trainer (Electrical Installation) for a Fixed Term contract until 31 July 2026. The role will be based between Eastleigh and Fareham. The information below provides more detail about the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Support in giving initial advice and guidance prior to enrolment regarding your specialist sector
  • Support in the onboarding of learners during the enrolment stage
  • Deliver a robust learner induction
  • Support in the design of new and existing programmes
  • Review and develop learning resources for your programmes
  • Deliver theory and practical training to learners at our college sites or via blended modes
  • Carry out learner workplace visits to conduct observations, assessments and progress reviews
  • Apprentices only - Ensure tracking of 'off the job training' (OTJ) is being captured on One File
  • Ensure progress of main programme is tracked and monitored on One File
  • Apprentices only - Complete progress reviews with apprentices and employers and ensure that they are captured on One File
  • Coach, advise and guide learners so that they develop the mindset qualities, will power, and positive habits and recognise the important of practice to succeed in the world of work.
  • Challenge and push learners so that they `go above and beyond` their learning and training and become ambitious to succeed in their careers.
  • Deliver training in accordance with the Apprenticeship Standards and qualification specifications
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with employers and other organisations
  • Support in the monitoring of Functional Skills achievement
  • Ensure learners engage with Cognassist for ALS requirements
  • Provide timely, constructive and evaluative feedback to learners; ensuring any feedback recognises the softer skills (time management, organisation etc.)
  • Carry out Internal Quality Assurance activities (subject to holding an IQA qualification)
  • Apprentices only - Report on apprentice progress to Head of Apprenticeships at termly RAG meetings
  • Raise concerns regarding learner engagement/progress and determine intervention requirements with Head of Apprenticeships/Curriculum Manager
  • Prepare learners for EPA process/final assessments
  • Ensure that the delivery of sessions and the resources used are OFSTED compliant
  • Deliver work based programmes and any commercial programmes that are required

Skills/Experience:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of people at all ages and levels
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines within a busy environment
  • Highly motivated professional with a range of industry experience and knowledge

Qualifications:

  • Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
  • Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds craft/advancedcraft in relevant subject.
