The Role

To operate the process and packing machinery at the Agecroft site in a fast paced, high-volume production facility. The Production Operator is responsible for the smooth running of equipment and achieving hourly planned production targets, delivering production volume on time, to the correct quality and at the correct cost targets. This role supports Safety, Quality, Delivery, Morale and Cost targets for the site.

Responsibilities
  • Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment; operate machinery and equipment safely by following SOPs; report safety hazards, incidents or near-misses to the supervisor; participate in safety training and drills; support a proactive safety culture and complete actions from H&S audits to maintain external accreditations; maintain hygiene standards to GMP requirements.
  • Quality: Deliver the Gold Seal standard for the product; monitor production to meet quality standards; conduct regular quality checks on finished products; identify and report quality issues; maintain cleanliness and hygiene to prevent contamination; own maintaining internal GMP and external ISO standards; perform weekly line interventions including clean, inspect and lubricate tasks.
  • Delivery: Ensure timely production according to the schedule; coordinate with team to meet targets; manage set-up and changeovers to minimize downtime; maintain downtime records and escalate unresolved issues; work to KPIs including OEE and GMP audits; use SAP and complete SAP transactions accurately; ensure start-up set points and variances are captured or escalated; support continuous improvement initiatives and problem solving on the line.
  • Morale: Foster a positive, collaborative environment; communicate effectively with team and supervisors; participate in team meetings and drive continuous improvement; mentor new team members; engage in site engagement surveys and support changes arising from survey results; handovers to following shifts to ensure smooth line operation.
  • Cost: Operate efficiently to minimize waste and reduce production costs; manage raw materials and packaging usage; identify cost-saving opportunities and assist in inventory management and variance investigations.
Reporting Relationships
  • Reports to the Duty Team Leader
  • Work within a shift production team with support from the service and shift engineering teams
  • Coordinate with planning to ensure effective scheduling and delivery of materials; liaise with the warehouse manager and Quality/Technical Services; collaborate with the CI Manager
