Overview

Production Operative

Location: Moira

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break)

Salary: £29,000 per annum

About the Company

Our client is a long-established, family-run business based in Northern Ireland, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality bakery mixes, confectionery ingredients, and related food products. With deep roots in the local community, they pride themselves on delivering consistent quality, trusted expertise, and outstanding customer service to bakeries and the wider food industry.

Purpose of the Role

To operate machinery and perform tasks in the production and packaging of food products, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production machinery and ensure consistent, high-quality output
  • Follow all food safety procedures, including GMPs, cleaning schedules, and CCPs
  • Monitor production processes and perform basic testing and quality checks
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Report any defective materials or food safety concerns to the Production Supervisor
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly
  • Perform calibration, startup checks, and CCP checks
  • Report equipment faults to maintenance staff
  • Provide cover in the absence of the Production Supervisor
Health & Safety Duties
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment
  • Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Report hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses promptly
  • Use PPE and equipment correctly and responsibly
  • Participate in risk assessments and safety initiatives
Requirements

Essential:

  • Knowledge of food hygiene standards
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately

Desirable:

  • HACCP and BRCGS knowledge
