The Production Director will lead the next stage of operational maturity – embedding lean principles, stabilising performance, and developing a capable leadership team. This hands‑on, visible role suits someone who thrives on building structure and discipline in a bespoke, fast‑paced manufacturing environment. 12‑month FTC/interim, with potential to go perm.

Description
  • Lead and optimise production operations across a 130‑person manufacturing site.
  • Introduce and embed lean manufacturing practices and performance metrics (quality, waste, efficiency).
  • Develop and coach production management and frontline teams, building capability and engagement.
  • Strengthen production systems, processes, and reporting structures to support growth and scalability.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and H&S to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable output.
  • Play a key role in preparing the business for multi‑site manufacturing.
Profile
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proven track record in senior production or operations leadership within manufacturing.
  • Experience of leading lean and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Strong people leadership – able to gain trust, inspire change, and develop teams.
  • Comfortable in a low‑volume, high‑variation / bespoke production environment.
  • Ideally from timber, joinery, or building products, but open to wider manufacturing backgrounds.
  • Resilient, pragmatic, and delivery‑focused – capable of making a rapid, tangible impact.
