Overview

Are you a commercially minded leader with a knack for numbers, negotiation, and nurturing a team? A long-established manufacturer in the packaging industry is on the lookout for a Procurement Manager to head up our cost estimation and purchasing function. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Operations Director, where you'll lead a small but mighty team, shape procurement strategy, and make a measurable impact on profitability.


Responsibilities


  • Preparing detailed, accurate estimates for packaging products based on customer specifications, materials, and machine capabilities.


  • Overseeing all purchasing activity, from raw materials to outsourced services, ensuring best value in terms of cost, quality, and service.


  • Negotiating with suppliers and monitoring performance across the UK and European network.


  • Developing and maintaining pricing models and procurement strategies that align with company goals.


  • Leading, supporting, and developing a team of three, setting clear objectives and fostering continuous learning.


  • Producing weekly and monthly reports on production costs, procurement KPIs, and material usage for senior management.


  • Staying up to date with sustainable packaging options and industry developments.



Requirements


  • Proven supervisory or management experience.


  • A strong commercial background, ideally combining estimating and purchasing responsibilities.


  • Packaging or print industry experience (highly desirable).


  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.


  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.


  • IT literate, confident with Microsoft Office.


  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to operate with high integrity.
