A respected manufacturing company is looking for a Procurement Manager in Aylesford, UK. You will lead the procurement function, negotiate with suppliers, and manage a small team. Are you a commercially minded leader with a knack for numbers, negotiation, and nurturing a team? A long-established manufacturer in the packaging industry is on the lookout for a Procurement Manager to head up our cost estimation and purchasing function. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the Operations Director, where you'll lead a small but mighty team, shape procurement strategy, and make a measurable impact on profitability.
Preparing detailed, accurate estimates for packaging products based on customer specifications, materials, and machine capabilities.
Overseeing all purchasing activity, from raw materials to outsourced services, ensuring best value in terms of cost, quality, and service.
Negotiating with suppliers and monitoring performance across the UK and European network.
Developing and maintaining pricing models and procurement strategies that align with company goals.
Leading, supporting, and developing a team of three, setting clear objectives and fostering continuous learning.
Producing weekly and monthly reports on production costs, procurement KPIs, and material usage for senior management.
Staying up to date with sustainable packaging options and industry developments.
Proven supervisory or management experience.
A strong commercial background, ideally combining estimating and purchasing responsibilities.
Packaging or print industry experience (highly desirable).
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
Excellent leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
IT literate, confident with Microsoft Office.
A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to operate with high integrity.
