Tasks
The key responsibilities and duties of the Process Engineer Surface Technologies include:

  • Develop, configure, and optimise plating shop processes from design to steady-state monitoring.
  • Create and maintain process standards, documentation, FMEAs, and technical risk assessments.
  • Define quality metrics, analyse data for trends, and support root cause investigations.
  • Identify and deliver tooling requirements, working with internal/external partners to ensure quality and throughput.
  • Ensure compliance with OEM standards, REACH, and COSHH requirements.
  • Support daily operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Investigate new methods, processes, and layouts to boost flexibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and engineering teams for approvals and process enhancements.
Requirements
The ideal Candidate should meet the following requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Chemical Engineering, or related field with a focus on surface technologies.
  • 3-5 years' experience in electro-plating or plating, ideally in aerospace R&D or process roles.
  • Skilled in Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and statistical process control.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences; proven team player in matrix environments.
  • Proficient in IT and numeracy, with experience using MRP/ERP and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (EASA 145 or equivalent) and REACH/COSHH regulations.
  • Flexible working hours and occasional travel; able to work in plating shop with exposure to chemicals.
