Role Overview

Brightwork have an excellent opportunity for a Process Development Chemist to join our renewable energy client at their site in South Ayrshire.

Reporting to the Technical Development Leader, the purpose of this role is to devise, plan and execute research programmes with the overall aim of making operations more efficient and/or reduce operational impacts.

Duties
  • Plan, run, and record laboratory experiments to improve anaerobic digestion performance.
  • Test biogas potential and digestate quality under different conditions.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyse samples using standard and advanced techniques.
  • Help design and implement process improvement projects.
  • Prepare risk, COSHH, and management of change assessments.
  • Develop and improve testing methods for new and existing technologies.
  • Produce clear technical reports on laboratory and plant trials.
  • Analyse and interpret experimental and plant data, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Follow all company procedures, SOP’s, COSHH, and risk assessments.
  • Complete required HSE and technical training.
  • Contribute ideas and improvements through innovation meetings, supporting continuous improvement across operations.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology or similar
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Experience working in a lab based environment
  • Ability to prioritise duties and manage time
  • Strong IT skills within Excel and use of ERP system and databases
